CAN LOVE HAPPEN TWICE? by Ravinder Singh, Book Review

Can Love Happen Twice? Can Love Happen Twice? by Ravinder Singh

My rating: 3 of 5 stars

I thought for almost a full 20 minutes thinking what to type over here.. Finally I got something to tell..

It didnt take a lot of thinking to buy this book.. The author's name is enough to pick it..

This is not as good when compared to the prior book.. It gets a 3 outta 5, if compared to the first book.. but the rating I gave (4/5) is for when I take it like any other book..

It was a interesting read with a very unexpected twist at the end.. Hats off to Ravinder Singh..

Worth a read...

HOT TEA ACROSS INDIA by Rishad Saam Mehta, Book Review

Hot Tea Across IndiaHot Tea Across India by Rishad Saam Mehta

My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Not so bad one...

It started off very boring.. I was expecting lot of travel and lots of information of India, after I reading this I realise that 200 pages is not enough to write about travels across India..

Author's travels mostly consisted of travels in North, near Delhi, Jammu, Leh, etc..

One more misunderstanding of mine about this book is that I was expecting more of adventures, backpacking, camping kind of stuff.. It is a 'travel' genred novel.. In this novel, travel means, travel by bike, car or air, which means not much of a adventure stuff.. And the author most of the time stays in a hotel or a friend's place, which means it is not much of a backpacking or camping stuff..

But for a person like me, who likes travelling and all.. This is a refreshment and provokes to hit the road again.

The 2nd Paulo's book I read..

I thought that this book is about travelling.. But it turned out to be completely different.. Anyways, it was upto Paulo's standards..

At first I thought 'Aleph' is someone's name.. But it has a fantasy of its own.. But it was good.. The concept of Aleph is very new to me and the way Paulo expressed is just amazing..

Got something new to learn, the story was good.. So its a good read!!

A DILLI-MUMBAI LOVE STORY by Abhimanyu Jha, Book Review

A Dilli Mumbai StoryA Dilli Mumbai Story by Abhimanyu Jha

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

One more touching tale from a Indian author..

I always liked reading novels by Indians.. The tagline, "when love won over terror", is what tempted me in reading this book..

As the name says, 'dilli-mumbai love story', and from the cover design, we can say it has something to do with 26/11. The best part of the book, about 80% of book is just about Aniruddh's, the hero, love story. How they met eachother, how they fought, how they got together again and the life after that.. Till, Apu, the heroine gets stuck in the Taj hotel during the terrorist attack.

The last 50 pages of the book deals with the story after Apu gets stuck in the terrorist attack in Taj hotel. The story from here on was so interesting.. Every single emotion, god, was expressed beautifully.. I was turning a page every 2 minutes from here on. I was not going to put this down until i complete reading it.

If you like love stories from Indian authors, you will definitely love this one.. It will be a page turner, anyone will complete it in just one go...

A little boring in the beginning but it got interesting eventually... A VERY TOUCHING TALE..

TOUCHING... GRIPPING... A MUST READ...

THE MONK WHO SOLD HIS FERRARI by Robin S. Sharma, Book Review

The Monk Who Sold His FerrariThe Monk Who Sold His Ferrari by Robin S. Sharma

My rating: 3 of 5 stars

My another try at philosophical books...

And I failed again.. I dont why philosophical books dont interest me.. All I could find out of philosophical books are the sentences and the meaning keep on repeating infinite times in every paragraph.... Thats very irritating thing..

I was reading with keen interest till 107th page, after that I was literally scanning the words in the pages.. All I can say that, this is the first philosophical which I have read interestingly for the half way of it..

Robin S. Sharma has done a good job.. He is pretty good with his sense of philosophy.. Pretty interesting for the first halfof the book.. Will probably be a delight for who are serious with philosophical or self help books..

MOM SAYS NO GIRLFRIEND by Subhasis Das, Book Review

Mom Says No GirlfriendMom Says No Girlfriend by Subhasis Das

My rating: 3 of 5 stars

There is something special about this book.. The writing was perfect... The story fulfilled its requirement - timepass..

But, my GOD, climax - the 25 pages were so unbelievable.. I dont know what just happened.. Actually I feel disgusted about these kind of stories.. but I think I am getting it now... I am not going to reveal it anyway...

The story lingers around a guy who loves music (which he later gives up) and keeps falling in love with girls (which he thinks of giving up everytime he broke up, but will fail every single time).. At the end of the story you will understand the mere reason of the selection of the title..

Good for time-pass..

A Lot like Love...a li'l like chocolateA Lot like Love...a li'l like chocolate by Sumrit Shahi

My rating: 2 of 5 stars

A lot like love...a li'l like chocolate, is nothing like anything which is interesting..

First of all, any average book by an Indian author will be about 200 pages.. This is just 180 pages.. The text is lot like trying to fill pages..

It is like anyother love story.. anyone been in love knows that and this explains all the feeling if you are in love..

There is not much story with an unexpected (and disgusting, for me) end.. waste of money..

I know it is too hollywoodish... And too distint from reality and too not-so-possible kind of story.. But I liked it..

I always fantasized of a life like this.. Man, Johnny, you rock!!

Dont even compare this story with the reality, the word 'fiction' mean imagination.. Just imagine..

Superb read, was so involved in the story.. A roller coaster ride a of adventure and emotions...

THE ROZABAL LINE (Revised Edition) by Ashwin Sanghi, Book Review

The Rozabal Line (Revised Edition)The Rozabal Line by Ashwin Sanghi

My rating: 1 of 5 stars

A boring book...

The reviews were...wow, so amazing. People were comparing this book with The Da Vinci Code and the author with Dan Brown. I was so tempted to read it.

All the book contained is a collection of myths of different religion which points out that jesus was not killed in the cruxifixion, but lived lived and died in India and supported Sacred Feminine with some more myths.

The book was so confusing. All the myths were connected using a fictious story, who confused me even more. The book would have been good, if it had only the last 25 pages. The last 25 pages of story is what was clear to me, the rest was a pure mess.

It might be used a myth-reference-guide, if didnt have that fictious story through out...

Best of love stories... as I heard it is.

First of all, about the edition. It was nice. Big Fonts. Less text per page. Anyone can read it at a pace of a page per 45 seconds. So a perfect edition for a guy like me.

Now about the story. This is my kind story. I've always like love stories, in which either of the leads die. Just like movies - A walk to remember, Sweet November, PS I love you... So this is a feast for me. A perfect love.. story.

ONE AMAZING THING by Chitra Banerjee Divakaruni, Book Review

One amazing thingOne amazing thing by Chitra Banerjee Divakaruni

My rating: 3 of 5 stars

It is a completely a different read for me. All the books I read are mostly boring in the start and ended pretty interesting or boring the whole way. But this one was different, it was interesting in the start and got boring when i closed the book.

The description of the book is very exciting. 9 people from completely different background - religion, race, nationality, appearance, status, etc - meeting in a visa office and spending their life's longest hours in a building which would rubble any moment, sharing their own ONE AMAZING THING.

It has all the emotions - love, lust, trust, romance, suspense, devotion, etc - involved in the stories told. Each and every story is very touchy. But after about 3/4th of the book, I noticed that the movie was very prolonged. The stories are dragged.

As per me, the book was not a great one, but a good time-pass kind of a read. If you are really leisure you are complete it in one-go. Actually the stories forces you to complete it in one-go.

After completing reading it, when you are done with the book, that you feel bored. Ending is what predicts the entire impression of a book. All I could say is, it ended boring...

Merely served the reason I bought it. Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi has mentioned about this book in his autobiography, The Story of My Experiments With Truth.

The description of this book was too much to be expected. Ever paragraph in the book, has the word 'pure air', 'pure water' and 'pure food'. Its no guide to health, its a guide to waste money. Not at all worth the cost.

The Da Vinci NotebooksThe Da Vinci Notebooks by Leonardo da Vinci

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

4 stars for this book.. and 5 stars for Leonardo...

What a person... Everyone who is thinking of taking up painting, must go through this book atleast once.. It is so amazing, how Leonardo noticed every single action in a daily life but we don't notice them.. The rare facts in the books are so amazing..

According to Leonardo, painting is not just something I or any of us do in my classrooms in the kindergarten.. I was so amazed by the tips and essentials recommended by Leonardo to all the painters.. After reading this book, a strange anxiety of taking up painting started in me..

Leonardo is a perfect name to define the word 'Artist'.. He is not just perfect in the field of Painting, but he is a sculptor, engineer, mathematician, philosopher, inventor, architect, anatomist, naturalist and the list goes on..

This book, express lots of key views of Leonardo on lots of fields ranging from painting to sculpture to his own writings to his philosophy on painting and lot more of his interesting stuff...

I think everyone atleast once should get to know about the Master!!!

not bad...

All I could say about this novel is NOT BAD... It was nothing like the first book.. It had love, story and humour.. But in this book, the major part, infact 80% was given for the humour.. Anyway, the end was good... I never knew there is there is a third book which is going to be out soon..

The most fascination thing is, he mentioned about him writing the first book in this - second book.. I after reading this book came to know that, these duos are not fictious.. That was little amazing.

Over-all, this book wasnt upto the expectations of the first book..

this is one is not like any of the books i've ever read.. it has been a great from the first till the last page..

i couldn't get any fixed picture of the book at first when i read the description... but eventually after 3 chapters, i came to know the pattern the story was following and was very much involved in it.. i took me 4 days to complete first of the book and 1 day to complete the second half.. the thrilling tales of politics was so brilliant..

i am one of those people who hate and dont give a damn for politics.. politics was something very easy, simple and easy earning job for me.. but after reading this book, it gave me a very new propective of politics.. it funny there are people out there still thinking politics a still simple as seen in movies..

All I have to say about the read is "It is a political roller coaster journey for readers"... Damn good...

mind blowing.. just mind blowing...

hope i didnt see the movie first. but still it had no much difference.. every chapter ends with a cliff hanger...

best thing is it has been a long time since i saw the movie, the memory of the story of the movie is very faint... so it was lot more interesting than the movie.. the book covered each and every, minute detail of the story...

as complete one fifth of the book, i developed a special love for symbols and religious history.. da vinci is all over my brain.. symbols are all over my brain.. i started finding connection between every small incident that happens in my life.. THIS BOOK HAS COMPLETELY CHANGED MY PROSPECTIVE!!!

i dont know whether the points in the story are true or not, but i prefer considering it true.. i am so involved with the story... A MUST READ!!!

The prologue of the book was so interesting and I couldn't control from completing the book in 2 days (ya, it is a fast read for me).. But after reading this book, I felt the fourth mistake is me reading this book. It was so boring.

But, the book was not so bad. The story had more twists then any B-grade Bollywood movie..

Not so up to Chetan's level (ya, he has some level in my view)...

Right Fit Wrong Shoe by Varsha Dixit, Book Review

Right fit wrong shoeRight fit wrong shoe by Varsha Dixit

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

First of all, a close friend of mine recommended this book to me. Reading the description of the book, I was sure that this is a girl material. I was so bored by reading the description. I am not very much into girlie stuff. But this sounded too much.

First of all, the language was not so good for me. It was so complex. It had lot of shortcuts which not a even a text-junkie like me was able to understand. It takes lot of effort to complete dialogue.

Secondly, when I started reading the book, I was bored to hell. I had no idea why i started this one (as I have a habbit of complete reading the book which I started). I was cursing my friend was going on with the book.

10 pages done - still cursing my friend. 25 pages - still cursing my friend. 50 pages - I lost myself in the book.

If it was someone else, they would've completed it in just a day. As a slow reader (I read fast, but get no time to read), it took me 3 days.. To be precise, 5 hrs.

I was so involved in the back. It was so awesome. There was no girlie about the story. I felt it so interesting. Lost in the story, I got accustomed to the complex language.

A perfect read...

White Fang / The Call of the Wild by Jack London, Review

White Fang / The Call of the WildWhite Fang / The Call of the Wild by Jack London

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I neither read the sypnosis nor did I have any idea about both the stories. Actually, I was provoked read them because of the special interest of Christopher McCandless in Jack London's tales.

Christopher is someone I admire alot (to know who he is read Into the Wild). He admired Jack London and his work very much. Christopher was a outdoor guy, a tramp. So I was expecting these stories to be some kind of adventure stories. But I was wrong.

This is a finest book, I've read on dogs/wolves. Personally, I am a god lover so I was not so disappointed when I came to know this is completely not what I expected.

Jack London is one of the finest authors of those times. One can never understand a living being this much. He has his own style of expressing the situation. The fierceness, the softness, the love, the anger, each and every action of a dog is expressed very excellently by London.

Both the stories were very interesting. Probably, this is one of the longest reads of mine. I never wanted to rush through the book. No one ever wants to rush through this book. Every sentence, every expression of the story is felt when reading this. Both the stories, follow the dogs, even though tamed and bred by man since thousands of years, they carry the wild memories which are inherited from their ancestors. The want of the dogs to chase, hunt and feel the warm blood on their muzzle are still alive deep down inside their brains.

FINEST READ...

Courage: The Joy of Living DangerouslyCourage: The Joy of Living Dangerously by Osho Rajneesh

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

MIND BLOWING READ...

Osho has a special book for every person. I would call this my-type. Osho is one of my favourite author and he is the best. He is one of his kind. He doesn't give anyone any philosophy (a fixed formula) to anyone, if it seemed like he gave you some philosophy, then take it, follow it, never let it go..

This book is follows a concept of living every moment of your life and thats how you should live. If you are not familiar with Osho and his teaching, then this would give you a perfect image of his teachings. He never asks you to give up, everything, he just asks you to do what you want. Dont get influenced by anyone. This book has few of his own experiences.

I am not so much into philosophical or spiritual things and I guarantee you that this is book belongs to none of them. So I would like to call it a MUST READ...

About the book: It is a collection of 34 experiences in a which is experienced by almost every Indian(male and female)...

I personally loved "Life is what you make it", which is Preeti Shenoy's second book and heard a lot of good reviews about her first book (which is this book), so I was tempted to read this book..

INTO THIN AIR by Jon KraKauer, Review

Into Thin Air: Personal Account of the Everest DisasterInto Thin Air: Personal Account of the Everest Disaster by Jon Krakauer

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

It is one of my longest reads.. Being a outdoor person, I enjoy reading this kind of stuff... But Jon, the author has his own way of writing..

If a book is intended to write about a tragedy that took place on a expedition, Jon's workw will consist of everything, from the description of the least important character of the tale to the history of the first summiteer to the personal investigation, about the tragedy, from the survivors..

The very bad thing about this writing is that, Jon mentioned lots of names in the manuscrip and he never maintains a standard for the person.. For example, There is a American named Sandy Pittman.. Jon sometimes refers to her as Sandy and other times as pittman and so other times American... This really confused me till the core.. This manuscript consists of 100s of names and Jon can call them in 3 types, that makes it 3 x 100s of names...

It is a great account of Everest expedition of 1996.. It hangs to a very points which says... Reaching is top isnt the vistory, it is just the beginning of the most problamatic descent...

Greavely loved it..

The Immortals of MeluhaThe Immortals of Meluha by Amish Tripathi

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This is not that kind of a book I was expecting. I was expecting a book with lot of morals and Hindu myths. But this turned out to be a complete different.

But it was indeed a very good one. This is come under my category... FAST READ BECAUSE ITS GOOD.... If you are very leisure and have lots of time, you will try your best to complete in one read.

It consisted mostly of the Meluhan myths, which I believe are pure works of fictions.

Actually this book doesn't belond to be noted as a "BC story".. No way in BC we had technology like that.. It is a combination of both BC and a Modern era.

The names of the characters are used very brilliantly. I really admire a new-comer can make such a great deal. HATS OFF TO AMISH.

Just can't wait for the second book in the series...

A small SNAPPING TURTLE...

Came across this small sized SNAPPING TURTLE.. It was very cool, to see turtle in house for me.. But this one looked like a ordinary turtle, so I went so close to its mouth, then it suddenly snapped out of its shell and almost bit my finger.

Since it is small I was fine.. It was just 4-5 inches.. If it was the average size of its family, then my finger would have been its lunch for today...

This is their average size, and they are very good at snapping your finger off of your hands!!!
